We always welcome highly-motivated English-speaking students, interns, post-docs, engineers from all over the World (working language in UNIDAPT Group is English) for short-term and long-term collaboration, visits and internships. We are also interested in collaborative software developments. We often have short-term internship positions for local students from Paris region (ENS, UVSQ, etc).
If you are self-motivated and interested to work with us, please don't hesitate to contact us for informal discussion. The candidates must have a strong first degree in Computer Science or Engineering, good level of mathematics and statistics (knowing machine learning concepts is a plus), a strong interest in UNIDAPT/cTuning research topics and publications, should be familiar with cTuning developments, have a very good level of spoken and written English. If you already have your own scholarship or funding, it is a big plus!
Also, bear in mind that we are not interested in just publishing myriads of similar papers, but more in obtaining real practical results, producing open-source tools or supporting available infrastructure for collaborative R&D useful to the community. Therefore, candidates should have strong skills in programming and system administration. We often use C, C++, Fortran, PHP, CCC framework, cTuning CC, MILEPOST GCC, Java, MySQL, R, OProfile, Linux development tools, Intel tools, Weka, GCC, LLVM, etc.
Finally, if you are looking for first-time internship, please DO NOT send us general chain application letters, but tell us why would you like to work with us, which our papers did you read and which UNIDAPT/cTuning topic would you like to work on with us.
Here is brief information about some sources of funding for collaborations and visits:
- for Paris region students: we have a very limited amount of internships funded by UVSQ, Intel, etc, however you are encouraged to obtain funding from your local institution;
- for HiPEAC members: we can apply for HiPEAC funding which covers visits of students from HiPEAC institutions to our group (from several weeks to several months);
- for North-America colleagues: NFS has agreements with some French institutions to fund bi-lateral exchanges;
- for others: UVSQ has bi-lateral agreements with various countries - please check the websites of UVSQ and your own institution.
